May 11th Results.....

I want to take this opportunity to again thank everyone that has been a part of my campaign for Sheriff. Whether it was offering sign locations, monetary donations, calling and talking to friends, family, and neighbors about me, helping with aspects of the campaign, or just purely offering your support, it takes a dedicated team of individuals to run a successful campaign. As we have seen by the voting results, it took every one of you to get out and vote to give us a successful ending to election night. While the results are still listed as “unofficial”, I have spoken to the Saunders County Clerk’s office and they assure me that even with the 29 provisional ballots not verified yet, it will not change the outcome of me being moved to the November election and running unopposed.
With all of this being said, I also want to assure all of Curt Prohaska’s supporters that I hope to also earn your trust and support as well. While this was a very close race, we need to bring everyone in the county together and not be divided.
I look forward to serving Saunders County as your next Sheriff in 2023 and will continue to serve you on a daily basis whether it be working as a Sergeant at the Sheriff’s Office, the Assistant Fire Chief at Cedar Bluffs Fire Department, or as the Village Board Chairman at Cedar Bluffs, you can trust that I will have Saunders County’s best interests at heart. I am very excited about the future of the Saunders County Sheriff’s Office!
I will be getting large signs picked up through this next week and will also take yard signs back as well to save for the future. Thank you again for your support!!!

Happy Nurse's Day!!

Since today is National Nurse's day I want to send a shout-out to all of the nurses that work hard everyday to take care of Saunders County Residents! Being an EMT myself, I certainly appreciate the jobs you all do!!
Having a great working relationship between healthcare providers and the Sheriff's Office is very important and beneficial to our residents and individuals seeking care in the county. That's why one of my goals is to strengthen and rebuild those relationships with heath care facilities so that everyone receives all of the resources available to them.

International Firefighter's Day

Since today is International Firefighters Day, I want to take this opportunity to thank every single firefighter that does what they do on a daily basis to keep everyone safe.

As a firefighter/emt myself in Cedar Bluffs for the last 27+ years, I know the dedication and time that it takes to make each department successful. That's why I have vowed to continue to build the relationships between the first responders and the Sheriff's Office to ensure that we are working together to provide the best services to our communities in Saunders County.

10 days till election day and other updates from Meet and Greet....

Thank you to everyone who stopped by my meet and greet last night in Wahoo. There was a bunch of great discussion about important issues in Saunders County.
With just over 10 days left before election day, I want to remind my supporters to be sharing my posts and telling their friends about me and my campaign. With that being said, please do not get caught up and engage in the negativity we are seeing recently on the Facebook community boards. I want my campaign to solely be positive and about my qualifications and what I can do for Saunders County.
Another reminder for any voters that still need to switch their voter registration to republican so that you have a vote in the Sheriff election, May 2nd is the last day to do that in person at the Saunders County Clerks Office.
Let's keep running strong to the finish line on May 10th!!!

15 days till the Election and upcoming Meet and Greet

With just over two weeks left until the primary election, I want to reach out and let each of you know how much I appreciate your support.

These last two weeks are crucial to getting voters to the voting booths to cast their votes! With that being said, I am asking you that anytime you get the chance to mention me to your friends, share a post of mine on Facebook, or share a personal experience that you have had with me, please do so. While people like to hear from me as well, there is nothing more powerful than hearing about me from their friends!

I am also hosting a "Meet and Greet" at the Wahoo Public Library this Thursday, April 28th from 5:30-7:30pm. I will have a short presentation at 6:00pm but welcome anyone to stop in at anytime to meet me and talk in person with me about their concerns and my goals as the next Saunders County Sheriff.

This weather lately has been horrible for yard signs so if you are needing a new one, certainly reach out so I can replace it. I have had reports of some making it all the way to Canada and Mexico....haha

Thanks again for your continued support! Please continue to follow the campaign on Facebook or my website "www.lichtenbergforsheriff.com" for updates in these last two weeks.

I look forward to serving Saunders County citizens as their next Sheriff!

School Paper by my daughter Kennedy

So, a few weeks ago my daughter Kennedy asked me if I cared if she used me for a paper she had to write in school. Not really knowing what her assignment was, I told her sure, go ahead!
She just shared the finished paper which she also had to present about in front of her class. I can certainly tell you that I had tears in my eyes after reading it! Working in the public service field, whether getting paid or being a volunteer, definitely takes some balance to be able to maintain relationships and family life.
Since my whole life has been centered around serving Saunders County residents, I can certainly say that continuing that mission as the next Sheriff will be something that I look forward to. Please take the time to read her paper.
I certainly appreciate everyone's support in my campaign! Remember to get out to vote May 10th!!!

Chris Lichtenberg is no stranger to agriculture and rural living.

Chris Lichtenberg is no stranger to hard work and agriculture. Being a farmer himself, he knows the importance that agriculture plays in Saunders County and the hard work that it takes. Nobody will work harder to make sure that the Sheriff's Office is doing everything possible to protect family's ways of life in the county.

Cedar Bluffs Fire and Rescue supports Lichtenberg for Sheriff Campaign

The Members of the Cedar Bluffs Fire Department are proud to announce that at our monthly business meeting we voted to unanimously support Chris Lichtenberg as the next Sheriff of Saunders County.

His strong work ethic and devotion to public service are admirable.  He knows the county inside and out due to his 27+ number of years as a volunteer fireman, and 21+ years in law enforcement, of which 16 years are with the Saunders County Sheriffs office. We have had the honor to watch him grow with the Saunders County Sheriff’s office through his career. Currently he is a Sergeant, field training officer, drone pilot, pistol/rifle instructor, and taser instructor.

Not only is he one of our own but he values family, honesty, moral character, and is always willing to help out no matter the time of day or what is going on. These are just a few of the reasons the members have put their unanimous support behind Chris as the next Sheriff of Saunders County.

Follow him at Chris Lichtenberg for Saunders County Sheriff on Facebook or lichtenbergforsheriff.com

Best of Luck!!!

Chris Lichtenberg supports Saunders County Fire and Rescue departments

Chris Lichtenberg will ensure that the Saunders County Sheriff’s Office will support the county’s fire and rescue departments and will provide their assistance or resources when needed. Chris also realizes that these same departments furnish invaluable assistance to the Sheriff's Office at accident scenes, missing person calls, and other scenarios when specialized equipment is necessary. Being a firefighter/EMT himself since 1994 when he was a senior in high school, Chris knows the important role that first responders play in Saunders County and realizes that a working relationship with those individuals is crucial. Chris has been the Assistant Fire Chief in Cedar Bluffs since 1999 and is an active member of their department.

Release ref postings on the Saunders County Community Board on Facebook

I am posting this in reference to some posts on a community board and my campaign page. I am a person who is honest and want to be upfront with voters.
In August of 2012, I was at my family’s Platte river island cabin property with family and friends. On the way home, I was stopped by a Trooper with the Nebraska State Patrol for speeding south of Morse Bluff on Highway 79. After a series of tests, I was arrested for DUI 1st Offense and was booked into corrections until any alcohol was out of my system and I could post bond.
As we drove toward corrections, I can tell you without hesitation, this was one of the worst moments in my life. I had let so many people down, including myself. I could not believe that an enjoyable summer afternoon with my family and friends had gotten away from me. I was better than that but unfortunately, I had let my guard down on this day and made a huge mistake.
At the time, I did not personally know the Trooper who arrested me, however he is a super guy and we have since become friends and have worked side by side on incidents in Saunders County. He was compassionate yet very professional throughout the situation and never spoke down to me or treated me poorly for my decision to drink and drive. I never used my position with the Sheriff’s Office as leverage and I believe that he could tell that I had already learned the lesson of a lifetime. I learned a lot from how he conducted himself on that day.
The next morning I wished it had all been a bad dream but unfortunately it was real. I had so much going through my head. Initially it was all about ME but then I eventually had the realization, “I could have injured someone and I am actually lucky this was as bad as it was.”
My parents had taught me to be honest and if you make a mistake (no matter how big it is) own up to the mistake, learn from it and make it right.
I decided that day to learn from the situation and not let it define who I was. I went through the court process, plead guilty, and received the same sentence as others at the time were receiving from the judge. In addition to a fine, I was on probation for 6 months and lost my CDL. This affected me financially because I owned a trucking company. The DUI conviction was "set-aside" by the county court Judge after a hearing in court three years later.
5 years later I applied for the position of a full time Deputy Sheriff in Saunders County and was hired by Sheriff Stukenholtz. After serving as a full time deputy for 3 years, I applied for an opening as a Sergeant with the department. I was chosen by Sheriff Stukenholtz for the position of Sergeant, which I hold today. I believe I have proven to the Sheriff’s Department that I have learned from the past.
Even though this was nearly 10 years ago, my poor decision still haunts me. I am thankful for the support of my friends and family and so glad this incident did not have a terrible outcome.
I am a huge advocate of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) and am here to tell you to please make plans before you leave the house because otherwise making the plan after consuming a few drinks may come with life changing consequences. Use a designated driver at all times!
My incident has taught me so much about life, dealing with others who have made poor choices and picking yourself up and getting back on track. I hope this helps clear up any questions anyone had.

Serving Saunders County Citizens is nothing new to Chris Lichtenberg

Serving Saunders County citizens is nothing new to Chris Lichtenberg. In 2019 he was recognized by Governor Ricketts for actions during the floods that caused significant damage in Nebraska.
